Choose your hard- Path to growth
March 21, 2024
I had a thought this morning followed by a nudged to share.
Many of us are familiar with the adage "choose your hard." Typically, it's associated in discussions about physical health (i.e. the challenge of mustering the energy for a workout after a draining day versus the struggles associated with poor health outcomes). However, this concept stretches far beyond just physical health and goals.
Imagine standing at the brink of significant change in your life... be it in personal growth, career advancement, or financial stability. At these turning points, we are almost guaranteed to face challenges and obstacles that can feel more like roadblocks.
It’s in these moments we are faced with a critical decision: “Choose your hard”. And more often than not, when confronted with genuine adversity, many decide that the challenge is too great and choose to stay where they are.
But for me, the idea of not moving forward, of not growing and evolving, seems far more daunting.
Why do so many of us back away when faced with the prospect of growth? Is it comfort, the fear of failure or the timing of a financial commitment that holds us back?
While any of these reasons might be true, the essential question is, what are we willing to endure to achieve your goal/s?
True growth, the kind that reshapes and molds us... comes with its price—be it in time, hard work, expanding your knowledge & skillset, or an uncomfortable financial investment. And seldom.. does life present the "perfect" moment for self-investment. Oh yeah, and let’s not forget..it almost always shows up in the form of a sacrifice.
As an entrepreneur—and a wife to one, I've lived the unease of investing in uncertain times. I can say that the decision/s we have made to invest in ourselves and/or our business rarely (actually never) came at a convenient time. It often brought on our fair share of uncertainty and fear.
As you contemplate your next steps, how do you view the challenges ahead of you? Are they merely obstacles... or do you see them as opportunities for growth and to step into the next level?
Growth inherently involves stepping out of our comfort zones and I encourage you to see these challenges not as hurdles but as investments in you and your future. There's no better investment than the one you make in yourself!
Let's continue to grow together.
