The Hidden Phase of personal Growth
You know, there’s this part of personal growth that no one really prepares you for. It’s the moment when your perspective starts to shift..when you see life, your choices, and even your challenges through a completely new lens. At first, it feels like a breakthrough, like you’re finally stepping into a deeper understanding of yourself. But then something unexpected happens.
All of a sudden, the very things you thought you’d left behind start showing up in a different way. Past decisions, old fears, or unhealed experiences seem to take center stage, and it feels heavier than before. You might even wonder “Am I doing something wrong.. Why does this feel so much harder again/or now?”
What I want you to know is that this is completely normal. In fact, it is part of the process. This is something I’ve personally experienced and have seen with many clients. It’s an often underappreciated and rarely discussed part of the growth process, yet I think it’s important to understand.
What is actually happening?
When you expand your awareness and begin to see life from a new perspective, you may also find yourself looking back at past experiences or choices through this new lens. Suddenly, things you once accepted or didn’t even notice might feel glaringly obvious..like missed opportunities, choices you’d make differently now, or ways you held yourself back. It’s like shining a brighter light on your life, but now that light also illuminates areas that need attention.
It can feel heavy..like those issues or fears have grown larger than they were before. But the truth is, this is simply a natural part of growth. Awareness is the first step in the process. It’s the gateway to expansion, healing, and lasting change.
Why It Feels Harder Before It Gets Better
Here’s an analogy.. think about starting a new workout program or hitting the gym after some time off. Let’s say it’s leg day. You crush your workout, but for the next two or three days, your legs are so sore you start wondering if it was even a good idea. It’s painful, uncomfortable, and might even make you question whether this is was a good idea.
But what’s really happening? Your muscles are repairing, rebuilding, and growing stronger. That soreness isn’t a sign of failure..it’s evidence that you’ve challenged yourself and set the stage for progress.
Personal growth works in the same way. When you reach a new level of awareness, it’s like working a muscle you haven’t used in a long time. It might feel overwhelming at first. You’re now seeing areas of your life with sharper clarity—relationships, fears, choices, or habits that no longer serve you. And yes, it can feel heavier or harder because you’re processing these things on a deeper level.
The Process is Working—Trust It
If you happen to be in this phase, I want to encourage you… this is part of the process, and it’s working. That clarity you’ve gained isn’t there to punish you…it’s there to guide you. This moment of discomfort is like the soreness after leg day. It’s temporary, and it’s a sign that you’re building something stronger and more resilient within yourself.
The key is to recognize that you don’t have to tackle everything at once. Growth isn’t about fixing everything immediately.. it’s about acknowledging what has surfaced, giving yourself grace, and taking intentional steps forward.
A Reminder for Your Journey
Growth is messy. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s also transformative. If you find yourself in the thick of it..feeling like the weight of your new awareness is too much..know this… you’re exactly where you need to be.
Give yourself permission to take it one step at a time. Trust that this phase is setting the foundation for a stronger, freer, and more aligned version of yourself.
